It wasn't the most dominating performance. Heck, it wasn't even as good as his first appearance in a Super Bowl two years ago when he lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
But it was pretty damn good.
And that's why Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP, blowing up several narratives that have existed about him for years, in the Philadelphia Eagles dominating 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX for their second championship.

Hurts was 17-for-22 for 221 yards passing with two touchdowns and one interception. He also ran 11 times for 72 yards and scored another touchdown rushing courtesy of the Brotherly Shove.
"I couldn't do this without the guys around me," Hurts said during a televised, on-field interview.
Hurts was on point - and needed to be - as Kansas City did a fine job of bottling up Saquon Barkley running the ball.
And while there was some debate as to who should win the MVP - because the defensive effort was so dominating by the Eagles with six sacks, three turnovers and a defensive touchdown, it was hard to pick just one player who made a difference.
And with the exception of the touchdown - a pick-six by Cooper DeJean - it was up to Hurts to turn that great defense into offense for the Eagles - and he delivered.

He connected on touchdown passes to both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. The touchdown to Smith - a 46-yard tear drop down the seam - was the backbreaker for the Chiefs. It put the Eagles up 34-0 in the third quarter, and from there, it was all over but the shouting.
"Defense wins championships," Hurts said. And the Vic Fangio-led unit was the story of the game. Aside from DeJean's interception and score, Zach Baun had an interception that resulted from great pressure from Josh Sweat that set up the Eagles in the red zone. Milton Williams later had a strip sack of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, that led to the third turnover.
Sweat finished with six tackles and two-and-a-half sacks, which had many suggesting he could be the MVP, but the defense as a whole was so good, that it would have been wrong to single him out as having a greater impact than others.
As such, Hurts was easily the Eagles best offensive player, and was deserving of the honor.
He becomes the second Eagles quarterback to win the Super Bowl MVP. Nick Foles won the award in Super Bowl LII when they defeated the New England Patriots 41-33.
