Each year, Sea Isle City’s Recreation Office hosts a Holiday Lighting Contest that awards prizes to the most well-lit homes or businesses in town.
This year, the competition had two prizes for properties that were nominated in advance by neighbors, friends or the property owners themselves: “Best in Show” and a “Griswold Award” for the property with the most lights.
There was also a new “People’s Choice Award” contest that allowed members of the public to nominate any property they admired.
The winner of the Best in Show Award went to the home at 305 39th Street (East unit), which featured an array of eye-catching decorations, many lights and a variety of characters ranging from Santa on his sleigh to a manger scene.
The "Griswold Award" goes to the home at 210 67th Street.The home at 210 67th Street, which was trimmed with many colorful lights, received the Griswold Award.
The first-place prize in the People’s Choice contest was awarded to VFW Post 1963 at 304 JFK Boulevard. Decorations at the VFW post featured many lights, including a red, white and blue Christmas tree, and an array of whimsical inflatable figures.
The second-place prize in the People’s Choice contest went to the home at 18 50th Street, where large toy soldiers, a giant “Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster” and other decorations made the property a standout.
