Fire companies from across Cape May County gathered in Sea Isle City to participate in a Decorated First Responders Parade on Dec. 12.
The seven-mile parade route passed many homes and local businesses – and each vehicle in the procession had their lights and sirens blazing.
Sea Isle’s Fire Department, Division of Emergency Medical Services and Beach Patrol featured vehicles trimmed with lights and other holiday decorations.
The parade also included first responders from Green Creek, Marmora, Middle Township, Ocean View, Rio Grande, Seaville and Stone Harbor, as well as a New Jersey Forest Fire Service pickup truck that carried Smokey the Bear.
Prior to the parade starting in Sea Isle’s north end, a “Best Decorated Fire Engine” trophy was presented to the members of the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company, who rode along in a fire truck covered in thousands of colorful lights.
Additionally, each participating fire company received a tote bag containing sweet treats and other gifts from Sea Isle City’s Tourism Office.
“We had a great turnout from our partners across the county, and we were very happy that so many neighboring fire companies were able join us and help make the night memorable for our community,” Sea Isle City Fire and EMS Chief Bruce Knoll said. “It’s always good to have these companies with us during emergencies – and also during fun events like parades.”
