Are you planning to head to Rosehill racecourse but aren’t sure what you need to do? Let us help you! Our four tips will help you have the best day at Rosehill, including guidance on where to eat and how to get there.
Before you decide when to visit Rosehill racecourse, you will want to check to see what events are happening. Rosehill is home to many faces every year, and the Sydney Everest Carnival, which runs from September to November. The Carnival not only hosts an array of races, but also other events that allow you to kick back, relax, and even enjoy some live DJ sets. You can check Rosehill’s website directly for their upcoming races and events to help you decide when you want to visit.
When heading to a race at Rosehill, you need to consider how you will get there, allowing extra time on popular race days. Check where the race you want to see is being held and plan to drive or make use of public transport. There is a members coach service which will take you between racehorse venues, or you can purchase parking passes if you are a member. These parking passes can be purchased for annual or daily use, and provide you with priority access to parking.
When heading to Rosehill Gardens, you can catch the light rail L4 from Westmead/Carlingford to Rosehill Gardens. You can also use the 920 bus route or tacos. There is also general admission parking if you are not a member, but we recommend arriving early for this to avoid disappointment.
You can use the light rail for Royal Randwick too, using the L2 circular quay or the L3 Circular Quay. There are plenty of bus routes too, including the 339, 373, 374, 376, and 377. Taxis and parking are also an option, but there are limited parking spaces so you will want to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Canterbury Park is a little tricker to access on public transport, with two options available. You can take the M1 metro to Sydenham Station and swap to the SW3 bus to Canterbury Station, or take the T2 train to Ashfield Station before catching the 491 Bus from Brown Street to King Street at Frederick Street. Both of these options involve a walk to the racecourse after your train and bus journeys.
Warwick Farm is accessed by the T2, T3, and T5 trains and bus routes 802, 808, 827, 854, and 901. There are both members' and owners' parking and a separate general admission parking lot that you can use.
Like other racecourses, Rosehill has a dress code that you need to follow. The dress code varies slightly depending if you are a member and where you are watching the races. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the dress code beforehand to avoid any issues when you arrive, after all, you don’t want to be turned away! We have summarised the dress codes below, but make sure you check Rosehill’s website before setting off.
