The Eagles are Eager to Establish a Super Bowl Legacy

The Philadelphia Eagles completed their redemption arc when they ousted reigning National Football League (NFL) champions Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LIX last season.

That was only their second championship win in the club’s history, and it came seven years after their maiden triumph in 2017 when they beat the New England Patriots 41-33 in Minnesota.

But this was not their second shot at the championship. That came in 2022 when they squared off with the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII but suffered a gut-wrenching 38-35 defeat.

Fast forward just two years and the Eagles turned the tables in a dramatic rematch that earned them a place amongst the NFL elites.

Philadelphia’s road to glory was anything but smooth. Only a year before their fairytale triumph, they suffered a late-season capitulation that left many people questioning their bottle.

However, it did not take long for them to remind everyone why they should be taken seriously, and they could be looking at long-term domination if they play their cards right.

How the Eagles Dismantled the Chiefs<

The bookmakers have wasted no time installing the Eagles as the favourites for Super Bowl LX, and it is not surprising considering how they picked the Chiefs apart.

Nick Sirianni’s side ran out 40-22 to halt the Chiefs’ dream of becoming the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl three years in a row. The lopsided affair was 24-0 at half time.

Offensive lineman Jordan Mailata garnered a sizeable portion of the spotlight as he became the first-ever Australian to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

With bookies backing the Eagles for another championship run, NFL fans In Australia will visit great betting sites like Topsport to place early wagers on Mailata’s team.

They will fancy Philadelphia’s chances of making it back-to-back Super Bowl wins, and odds of 7.00 look decent value given the manner of the victory last season.

The Eagles have reinvented themselves from the NFL’s whipping boys to a major powerhouse and they could be a good bet to another championship win this term.

The Eagles can go Back-to-Back in the Super Bowl

For every NFL team in search of success, having a quality quarterback is a key requirement, and the Eagles are certainly not lacking the talent.

Philadelphia have Jalen Hurts, who is considered one of the best in the business. His ability to anchor the team is a key reason why the Eagles can be perennial contenders.

Hurts has been one of the best signal-callers in the game since he was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He is widely considered a generational talent, and rightly so.

The 26-year-old has spurred the Eagles to four consecutive postseason appearances, including two Super Bowls in the last three seasons.

Hurts is one of the more experienced figures in a Philadelphia squad largely dominated by youth.

None of their key players are over 28 years old including their newest offensive weapon, running back Saquon Barkley, who is another history-maker on the squad.

Barkley set the single-season rushing record with 2,005 yards and finished with 2,504 total yards from scrimmage - the highest ever recorded both in a regular season and in the play-offs.

When you add in an elite receiving corps - headlined by Arthur Juan Brown and DeVonta Smith - alongside one of the most physically imposing offensive lines in NFL history, it is easy to see why Philadelphia have what it takes to be a major force for years.

The Eagles had the best rearguard during the NFL regular season, allowing the fewest yards per game and ranking second in scoring defence (16.4 points per game).

The ‘Philly Dawgs’ were at the core of that defence. They are the six players on the roster from at least one of the two University of Georgia defences that helped the Bulldogs capture back-to-back national championships through the 2022 season.

Winning consecutive Lombardi titles is one of the hardest feats in the NFL. Only eight teams have succeeded to date. The Eagles have what it takes to join that exclusive list.

This is not a team that caught lightning in a bottle. This is an NFL franchise that has been building towards sustained Super Bowl greatness for years.
