Volunteers are invited to participate in the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission’s autumn beach cleanup and dune grass planting event on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Groups, families and individuals who want to help the local ecosystem may register at 10 a.m. on the day of the cleanup at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade. Environmental Commission members will distribute trash bags and other supplies to volunteers.

Volunteers will be given specific areas to remove trash and wind-blown debris from Sea Isle’s beaches and dunes.

They will be asked to document what items are collected on data sheets, which will be sent to Clean Ocean Action, a nonprofit organization that works to protect the waterways.

In addition, some volunteers will also be asked to plant dune grass along Sea Isle’s shoreline, using grass seedlings provided by the Environmental Commission.

For more information about the cleanup, call Environmental Commission Chairwoman Annette Lombardo at 609-263-2081.
