The Phillies came back from a 6-1 deficit to beat the Blue Jays on Tuesday night, 10-9. It's the type of game that was *built* for twitter reactions. Here's a look at some of the best content of the night.
Is there anything better than a 1-0 Phillies lead before you even flip the game on? Some context for Schwarber's 12 leadoff home runs this season:
most leadoff HR in a season, Phillies history:
2024 Kyle Schwarber: 12
2023 Kyle Schwarber: 11
2007 Jimmy Rollins: 9
2022 Kyle Schwarber: 7
MLB single-season record: 2003 Alfonso Soriano, 13 https://t.co/kdNLWY58bS
That was just the beginning of the Kyle Schwarber show, of course.

You may have enjoyed that ninth-inning Schwarbomb, but have you enjoyed it in Spanish? Check out the call from the great Oscar Budejen.

Can't have a huge comeback without falling into a huge hole first. Thanks, Tyler Phillips!

Phillips was a great story for a hot second. We'll always remember his complete game shutout against Cleveland, and we all hope the 26-year-old finds major league success in the future. But right now, for a team jockeying for postseason seeding, he's just not the guy.
Tyler Phillips Postgame:
“Yeah it doesn’t feel good ever. Like I said, this is a team that I want to leave my heart and soul out there for. For the team, for the fanbase, for my family. It’s every single time. To go out there and do that, it feels pretty bad.” pic.twitter.com/mEG0EK2PQ0
Back to Schwarber. Doing something for the first time since Mike Schmidt in 1976 is the Phillies equivalent of the "first time since Tungston Arm O'Doyle."
Phillies had gone 48 years without someone having 3 HR, 4 hits and 6 RBIs in a game.
That is, until Kyle Schwarber did it twice in the last month.
5 hits, 3 HR, 6 RBI tonight
4 hits, 3 HR, 7 RBI on Aug. 7
Before that ...
Michael Jack Schmidt, 5 hits, 4 HR, 8 RBI on 4/17/76
Schwarber's three-HR game came on the 18th anniversary of Ryan Howard'd iconic three-HR game in 2006, how cool is that?

The biggest takeaway of the night: it's feeling like a special season again. Just look at these guys. So back that they've ripped a hole in the space-time continuum and returned to a place where they've now never actually left.
