A potential redevelopment site prominently located within the cluster of bars, restaurants and retail shops in downtown Sea Isle City has hit the market for just under $1.7 million.
The commercially zoned property at the corner of Landis Avenue and 38th Street is currently occupied by an apartment building that dates to 1920, according to the real estate listing.
A buyer would have the option of continuing to operate the apartment building at 3802 Landis Ave. or redeveloping the property for a commercial project.
The real estate listing describes the building as a “one of a kind unique property affectionately known as the Taj Mahal.”
“This charming home built in 1920 has served as a gathering place for many generations of its current owners and friends,” the listing says.
The building is in need of “some TLC to bring this beauty back to its original condition,” the listing states. The property includes four apartment units consisting of a total of 14 bedrooms, five bathrooms and a large front porch.
The old building is currently used for apartments.
In addition to touting the property for its investment potential, the listing also says the site could be used for commercial development.
The property is within the downtown Landis Avenue commercial corridor and is close to some of Sea Isle’s best-known bars, restaurants and retail shops. A Wawa is directly across the street.
The sale price is $1.69 million. Online real estate records list the current property owner as TL Sea Associates Inc. of Willow Grove, Pa.
Bonnie Fiorentino, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach Realtors, is listed as the sales agent. She could not be reached for comment about the property.
