For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (FPS) and Maryanne Pastry Shoppe announced their third annual Cornhole for Cancer fundraising event on Friday, July 12, in Sea Isle City.
The event starts at 3:30 p.m. in Excursion Park and will feature food, music and friendly competition – all with the goal of raising $6,000 to fund two “Travel Respite Experiences” for families facing cancer.
This year, there will be an exciting new addition: Picklepalooza! With the support of Universal Rackets, FPS will host pickleball games for all ages and skill levels, with 30 percent of the proceeds benefiting FPS.
Picklepalooza will start on July 12 at 12:30 p.m. for beginners and at 2 p.m. for all abilities at Sea Isle’s pickleball courts on 42nd Place across from the marina.

This fundraiser is the second in a series of events hosted by FPS in Sea Isle this summer.
On June 26, FPS hosted families for “Family Beach Day,” which is part of the “Respite Reinforced” program that provides opportunities for FPS families to reconnect throughout the year.
The Cornhole for Cancer event will take place in Sea Isle's Excursion Park.
FPS extends its appreciation to the Sea Isle community for its support, with special thanks to Beach Day sponsors. They include Maryanne Pastry Shoppe, Uncle Oogie’s Pizza, Sands Department Store and Mike’s Seafood.
FPS also extends its gratitude to the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol, the Sea Isle City Police Department and the Sea Isle City Recreation Office for their contributions to the event.
For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation was founded by Sea Isle resident Marci Schankweiler in memory of her late husband, Peter R. Bossow Jr., a former lifeguard with the Sea Isle Beach Patrol who lost his battle with testicular cancer in September 1999.
FPS enables cancer patients and their loved ones to strengthen, deepen and unify their relationships by creating lasting and unforgettable “Respite Experiences.”
Since its inception, FPS has served over 11,000 patients, caregivers and their children with travel respites, staycation respites and emotional support. For more information about FPS, visit
