Places to Visit in Sea Isle City

  • News from our network
Located in Cape May County along the southern coast of New Jersey, Sea Isle City presents a lot of exciting tourist opportunities for visitors. The beach destination has a population of just over 2000 inhabitants, but that number almost doubles during the peak summer period when visitors and tourists flood the coastal city. While the beaches remain a major attraction of Sea Isle, the city offers a lot more than that. There is a bubbling nightlife on Sea Isle for the party goers, and if you are of the more quiet ilk or a history buff, there's a wonderful city library to explore. So if you are planning on spending the holiday in Sea Isle, here are some of the nicest places you can visit during your stay.

Excursion Park

Arguably the most popular tourist destination in Sea Isle outside the beaches, Excursion Park is one of the main hubs of entertainment and nightlife in the city. Located in the city center, the park is very easily accessible and usually hosts thousands of people on a daily basis every summer. Visitors troop to the main outdoor theater for concerts, stand-up shows, movies and more, and for those who are just looking for a serene outdoor location to spend their afternoon, the vast spaces at Excursion Park guarantee this.

JFK Boulevard Park

If parks are your thing, you will definitely get your money's worth in Sea Isle. Not only does the city have the Excursion Park, it also hosts the JFK Boulevard Park. Again, this provides a nice getaway from the beach, and is very popular for its playground and basketball courts. The JFK Boulevard Park is particularly recommended for kids, boasting a nice range of playsets and activities for the young ones. Not that adults are left out. There are a couple of standard basketball courts present in the park.

Boardwalk Casino

Fans of casinos are not left out of the fun in Sea Isle, with visitors able to visit the Boardwalk Casino. Located on 42nd Street and Boardwalk, the Casino has been operational in Sea Isle for almost half a century. Boardwalk Casino is an ideal location for family entertainment, with its nice range of games and activities including video games, racing, circus games, skilled games and kiddies rides. The casino is open everyday from 9:30am to 11:00pm. And of course, if you are more into the heavier gambling stuff, there is the option of online gambling. New Jersey was one of the first American states to legalize gambling, with the industry now one of the biggest in the state. Not only can you play online casino games while you are in Sea Isle, you can also excessive other forms of gambling, like placing bets on your favourite sports teams. The additional catch to this is that if you join any of the online sportsbooks available in the city, you become eligible for any of New Jersey's great online sports betting bonuses. So there's one for you to consider!

Sea Isle City Historical Museum

Sea Isle City has been in existence for well over 100 years, and there's no better place to learn about the history of the city than the Sea Isle City Historical Museum. If you plan on visiting this city, then for sure, you must make plans to stop over at the museum! The Museum was first established in 1982 to commemorate the 100th year anniversary of Sea Isle, and since 2011, it has been located on the first floor of the city library. So when you do visit the museum, make sure you also check out other parts of the Sea Isle City Library! There's a lot to see and explore in this museum, from photos to maps, pamphlets to historical artifacts, all detailing the long history of the city. Amongst the many interesting things stored in the museum include a 100-year-old trolley bell and a jet pilot's flight suit from the 70s. If you want to learn more about The Storm of 1962 or the Sea Isle railroads, or the Lenni-Lenape Native Americans, who inhabited the territory for thousands of years long before the official creation of Sea Isle, you will find plenty of historical materials in the museum.

Yum Yums Ice Cream

One thing that's clear on this list is the wonderful variety available in Sea Isle. It may only be a small city of just about 2000 people, but there's plenty of exciting stuff going on there. Having already already discussed the parks, casino, library and museum, we now move on to the Ice Creams. Sea Isle boasts a number of great ice cream shops, with Yum Yums arguably being the peak of the bunch. Located on the main strip of JFK Boulevard, the spot is hugely popular amongst kids and adults alike. Their Ice Cream range has up to 40 flavors, ensuring that everyone's taste is covered! We leave the list at these for now, but there are many other great places to visit in Sea Isle City. Special mention to Fish Alley, the more-than-a-century-old headquarters of seafood restaurants in the city, while the numerous golf courses around the city provide another option for relaxation.
