The National Weather Service has extended a Coastal Flood Advisory for Sea Isle City, Strathmere and nearby coastal areas through 1 a.m. Tuesday.
A higher-than-normal tide from a full moon today and the effects of the distant Hurricane Ernesto will combine to cause minor flooding conditions on Monday evening.
Residents should be prepared to move vehicles to safe places well in advance of high tide.
For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades.
Swimmers are urged to stay near the lifeguards at all times.
“If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help,” according to a weather alert issued by the Sea Isle Police Department.
For Police and Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-263-4311.
