Mayor Leonard Desiderio and the members of City Council invite everyone to attend Sea Isle City’s 2024 “Community Day” events on Saturday, May 4.
Community Day will be highlighted by a groundbreaking ceremony for Sea Isle’s $21 million community recreation center scheduled to open in fall 2025.
The events will begin with

st Bank of Sea Isle City) from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the Community Lodge parking lot, 300 JFK Boulevard (adjacent to the Welcome Center).
Staples, clips, folders, tabs, binders, CDs and DVDs are able to be shredded, but hard drives cannot be shredded.
Also starting at 9 a.m.,
City Council will hold a regular public meeting on the third floor of City Hall, 233 JFK Boulevard.
The annual
Community Day Bicycle Auction will take place at 10:15 a.m. in the Community Lodge parking lot. Mayor Desiderio will serve as bike auctioneer.
The auction is open to the public. All bidders are required to register prior to making bids (there is no fee to register). Registration begins on site at 9:30 a.m.
Only cash or checks will be accepted for payments during the auction. Each bicycle will be sold “as is” and “where is” – and bicycles that are purchased during the event must be removed from the area when the auction ends. The auction’s rain location will be in the covered parking lot underneath City Hall.

Those interested in learning about the many aspects of life in Sea Isle City won’t want to miss the
Community Day “Meet & Greet” from 10 a.m. to 12 noon inside the Community Lodge.
Members of the public will be able to speak with city and county officials and learn about local civic organizations. There will also be displays by municipal and county first responders, face painters and free giveaways during the family-friendly meet and greet.
The mayor will also host Sea Isle’s annual
Community Day Awards Ceremony in the Community Lodge at approximately 11:30 a.m. He will present his 2024 “Do the Right Thing” awards to noteworthy members of the community.

Bank of Sea Isle City will present their 2024 Community Partnership Award (and a check for $2,000) to a local civic organization.
Following the awards ceremony,
Desiderio will unveil two bronze historical markers. One plaque on the southwest corner of JFK Boulevard and Park Road explains former Mayor William Haffert’s efforts to preserve Sea Isle’s current entryway. A second plaque will be unveiled on the Promenade at 31st Street to commemorate the Ludlam Beach Lighthouse, which helped passing ships navigate along the coastline from 1885 to 1924.
Coinciding with Community Day, the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce & Revitalization will host its annual
Townwide Yard Sale, during which local homes and organizations will sell items on their front yards. On the morning of the yard sale, a list of participating properties will be available at
www.seaislechamber.com and on the Chamber’s social media sites.
The yard sale offers an array of bargains.
GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY:
Then at 1:30 p.m., the mayor will host a groundbreaking ceremony on the site of Sea Isle City’s future Community Center, 4501 Park Road. During the ceremony, municipal, county and state officials along with other dignitaries will break ground by shoveling soil on the site where the Community Center will be constructed. Afterwards, local property owners and all other members of the community will also be invited to shovel soil, take family photos and be part of this historic event.
