Coastal Flood Warning for Sea Isle

  • News
The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Warning in effect for Sea Isle City and other nearby coastal areas from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23. A strong coastal storm will move across the region on Saturday. Sustained northeast winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph and heavy rain will combine to cause moderate to major coastal flooding. The storm forecast has been updated to include moderate to major flooding. The high tide of most concern will occur Saturday afternoon at approximately 4 p.m. and will continue into the evening hours. Heavy rains near the time of high tide may worsen the flood levels. Many roads become impassable. For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades. “Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth,” the Sea Isle Police Department said in a weather alert. A High Wind Warning will be in effect from 12 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. High Surf and Rip Current Advisories also have been issued through Saturday evening. “Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water,” the weather alert stated. For police and fire emergencies, dial 911. For non-emergencies, call the police department at (609) 263-4311.
