Mayor Leonard Desiderio will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday to officially launch the construction of Sea Isle City’s dog park.
Members of the community and elected officials from Sea Isle, Cape May County and the state of New Jersey have been invited to attend the ceremony.
The park will feature two fenced-in areas for large and small dogs, each with shade pavilions, water stations, benches and canine “playground” equipment.
There will also be a picnic pavilion, a bicycle repair station and other amenities outside of the fenced-in areas.
The dog park will be located in the north end of Sea Isle along Landis Avenue, near Seventh Street.
The construction cost is approximately $968,000. The project has been approved for funding by the Cape May County Open Space Board.
Engineering schematics of the project will be on display during the ceremony.
