The Cape May County Board of Commissioners recognized Vice-Director Jeffrey Pierson last week during his final Commissioner meeting.
Pierson is retiring after more than 40 years of public service. Pierson joined the Commissioner Board in 2016 and became vice director this year.
He was presented with a plaque and was joined by his family at the meeting.
His professional background includes serving in the United States Army and New Jersey Army National Guard for 42 years, retiring as a Brigadier General.
He also spent six years serving as Undersheriff Correctional Division, Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, and held several positions in state government with the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
The Cape May County Board of County Commissioners has set the date for the County’s Reorganization meeting. It will take place on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 4 p.m. at the Cape May Tech Auditorium.
The meeting will include the swearing in of Commissioner Will Morey, Commissioner Bobby Barr, Commissioner-elect Melanie Collette, Sheriff Bob Nolan and Surrogate E. Marie Hayes.
