Weather Statement: Coastal Flood Advisory

  • News
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Sea Isle City and nearby coastal areas from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 1 a.m. Thursday. A full moon and swells from distant Hurricane Franklin could combine to create tidal flooding in the “minor” category on Wednesday night. The advisory is likely to be extended through Thursday evening. Residents should be prepared to monitor conditions and move vehicles to safe places in advance of the Wednesday evening high tide. “If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property,” according to a weather alert issued by the Sea Isle Police Department. The National Weather Service has issued a separate Rip Current Statement that warns of rough surf conditions generated by Hurricane Franklin, which is moving over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This advisory is in effect through Thursday. For Police and Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-263-4311.
