Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio is inviting the community to gather at Veterans Park at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, to commemorate Veterans Day.
The ceremony will include patriotic hymns, the placement of floral wreaths around the park’s fountain and words of praise for the men and women who served in the nation’s military.
During the ceremony, representatives from the Quilts of Valor Foundation will present a handmade quilt to a local veteran.
Miss Veterans Day Outstanding Teen Lilly Guest, a future competitor in the Miss New Jersey Outstanding Teen Contest, will read a poem.
On behalf of the city, Mayor Desiderio will accept an American flag, which was proudly flown during a combat mission over Afghanistan on board an F-16 “Viper” fighter jet.
The flag will be presented by city employee John Wagner, who serves as a staff sergeant in the 119th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron.
