The Ocean City Tabernacle welcomes John James, former lead singer of The Newsboys, for the 8:30 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services on Sunday, July 25. James co-founded The Newsboys in 1985, singing lead for 12 years and seven albums before stepping down in 1997 due to struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. Following his recovery from addiction, James began touring the world as an evangelist and spokesperson for “the God of second chances.” His wife, Tanya – a worship leader with her own amazing story of restoration – will host a Ladies Brunch at the Tabernacle on Saturday, July 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets for the event are $10 and available at octabernacle.org. Also returning to the Tabernacle on July 25 will be the Christian music trio Point of Grace.  For more than two decades, their faith-filled passionate lyrics, memorable melodies, and soaring harmonies have inspired generations to live boldly and keep God’s love as the foundation of their lives. “With over eight million recordings sold, three Grammy nominations and multiple Dove awards, the story of a few gifted college girls with a simple passion to unite and share their musical gifts for the Glory of God continues to evolve and engage thousands of fans, both old and new,” according to a Tabernacle news release. “Their unique ability to affect audiences with heartfelt song and story is stronger than ever,” the release says. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. for first come, first served seating and a hymn sing at 6:30 p.m. For a full schedule of speakers, concerts, conferences, and other events at the Ocean City Tabernacle, visit
