Sturdy Savings Bank announced it has named Dennis Roberts to the Board of Directors. As a board member, Roberts will work in concert with other board members to administer the affairs of the bank. This includes setting strategic direction, oversight of business strategies and policies, and ensuring the safety and soundness of the bank for its depositors. “We are pleased to welcome Dennis to our board and look forward to his insight and contributions,” Board Chairman James Fisher said Friday in a press release. “He is a long-time loyal customer and friend of the community, and we are excited to have him on board.” The decision to name Roberts to the board was based on his unique blend of hands-on business talents, fair-mindedness and ability to develop sound relationships, all qualities which align with the core values of Sturdy Savings Bank, according to the release. Roberts is a long-time resident of Cape May Court House and is the managing partner of Cape May Hospitality Group and The Bellevue Tavern. He dedicates a great deal of his free time to volunteering. He is the president of the Middle Township Board of Education for the past seven years and a board member since 1999, a member of the Middle Township Chamber of Commerce, and serves as a commissioner for the State of N.J. School Ethics Commission. He has been a volunteer youth coach for Middle Township basketball and hockey, as well as Avalon Lacrosse. Sturdy Savings Bank serves Cape May and Atlantic counties at 14 branches located in Avalon, Cape May, Cape May Court House, Dennisville, Marmora, North Cape May, North Wildwood, Ocean City, Rio Grande, Somers Point, Stone Harbor, Tuckahoe, and Wildwood Crest. Each of Sturdy’s branches consider the communities in which they are located their homes, and are dedicated to see those areas succeed. The bank often donates to local organizations, and supports schools because it values the development of the youth in the communities it serves.
