Beach Tags: Tickets to Sun and Surf

By MADDY VITALE For just $20, the sun, sand and surf can be yours to enjoy as discounted seasonal beach tags are now on sale in Sea Isle City. “Every year people look forward to returning to Sea Isle City’s beaches, but after the challenges we have had over the past year with the pandemic, I am sure people will be even more eager to buy their beach tags and spend more time with their toes in the sand,” Sea Isle City Public Information Officer Katherine Custer said. The beach tags went on sale last week. The discounted price of $20 represents a $5 savings over the full cost of a seasonal beach tag. The discounted price ends May 15. Each year the beach tags have a unique look. This year the design is fitting to the shore. “This year’s beach tags have a nautical flag theme to them,” Custer noted. “There are three nautical flags pictured on the beach tags.” Sea Isle tourism employee Trish Jackson holds a handful of 2021 beach tags up for sale. Beach tags are required in Sea Isle from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. Beach tags celebrating St. Patrick’s Day will also be sold, making fun gifts and novelties people enjoy collecting, Custer said. In a statement Thursday, Mayor Leonard Desiderio said the beach tags represent something vacationers and residents alike can look forward to. “Amid the cold winter weather we have been experiencing, here is a thought I hope will warm your heart: “Summer will be here before we know it,” he said. Desiderio continued, “Realizing that many of us are looking forward to the approaching summer season and spending leisurely time on the beach, we have begun to sell 2021 seasonal beach tags.” Beach tags are on sale at the Welcome Center and at the beach tag vending machine in the lobby of City Hall.
