Park Road Remains Under Construction

Park Road at 48th Street is stripped of its old top layer of asphalt in preparation for its repaving.

  • News
Park Road, which serves Sea Isle City’s historic Fish Alley neighborhood, was closed to traffic Monday while work continues on its reconstruction between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and 48th Street. Concrete work is being completed near 48th Street. After the concrete work is finished, Park Road will be repaved, the city said in an update on the project posted on the municipal website. Motorists are greeted by detour and “Road Closed” signs leading to Park Road and several feeder streets off Central Avenue. South State Inc. of Williamstown, N.J., has been awarded a $365,000 contract for the project. The contractor’s heavy construction equipment was being Monday used to remove old asphalt in preparation for the road’s repaving. Park Road runs through the middle of Fish Alley, an enclave of family-owned restaurants and fishing boats rooted in Sea Isle’s early history as a small commercial seaport.
