A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for Sea Isle City from Wednesday morning through 11 a.m. Thursday.
The remnants of Hurricane Ida will pass through the region Wednesday through early Thursday morning.
Periods of heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms associated with the storm will result in a widespread 2 to 4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts by Thursday morning.
Combined with existing wet conditions, this will lead to instances of flash flooding.
At this time, the heaviest rainfall is expected to arrive late Wednesday afternoon and continue into the night, according to the National Weather Service.
Police are urging motorists not to place themselves in danger by driving through flood waters. Conditions can be made much worse by vehicles plowing through flood waters and creating damaging wakes to homes and property.
For Police and Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call (609) 263-4311.
