The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Sea Isle City through 8 p.m. Thursday as the remnants of Hurricane Ida are expected to dump heavy rainfall on the shore.
The forecast calls for the storm to pass through the region Wednesday through Wednesday night, finally departing on Thursday.
Periods of heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms will result in a widespread 2 to 4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts from late Tuesday night through Thursday morning.
Combined with existing wet conditions, this will lead to flash flooding, according to a weather alert issued by the Sea Isle Police Department.
A Flash Flood Watch means that there is the potential for flash flooding that can be life-threatening. Rapidly rising flood waters may quickly inundate roadways and areas of poor drainage.
“Please monitor the forecast, especially if you live in a location that is prone to flooding. Be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued for your area,” the weather alert said.
