By MADDY VITALE For anyone looking for a summer job at the shore for a little extra money, to hone a skill or embark on a potential new career, look no further than Sea Isle City. The city is hiring in the Recreation Office. There, seasonal employees are needed to assist with the summer camps, the playgrounds and running the basketball league. A few openings are left for lifeguards on the city’s Beach Patrol. And the Public Works Department needs additional employees to help with the heavier workload that the summer season brings as tens of thousands of people visit the resort. Applicants for all of the positions must be at least 18 years old. Sea Isle City Public Information Officer Katherine Custer, who also heads the Recreation Office, pointed out that there are ample opportunities to work for the city and still several jobs that are available. She explained some of the highlights of the openings in the Recreation Office. “It’s a fun and nice work environment where you get to interact with people and help run enjoyable activities,” Custer noted. “We are always looking for outgoing people who work well with others and have great people skills.”

And if spending more time by or in the ocean interests you the most, Custer said that the Beach Patrol, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, may be the right summer job for you. “Our beach patrol has a wonderful history and people want to be a part of it,” she said of the lifeguards headed by Chief Renny Steele. “They work very hard.” In addition, Public Works, which is busy year-round with a multitude of duties, is hiring for the summer to help with trash and recycling collection. “In the winter we go from one day a week per street for trash pick-up to two days a week in the summer,” Custer said. Custer said the Public Works Department also maintains the beaches, cleans the public bathrooms and landscapes the gardens, playgrounds and recreation fields.
