Library Accepting Books for Holiday Gift Drive

  • News
Beginning Monday, Nov. 1, the Cape May County Library Children’s Department will be collecting new children’s and teen book donations through Dec. 1. To donate a book, visit any Cape May County Library branch, including the one in Sea Isle City, and place your gift in the specially marked boxes located inside each building. Books will be distributed by the Cape May County Council for Young Children, Caring for Kids, and Healthy Families organizations. Books should be new, and appropriate for children and teens from birth to age 17. Community members are encouraged to ask a children’s or teen librarian for donation suggestions. Book donations will be quarantined for one week before being sent to their beneficiaries.
“During the holiday season, what a wonderful way to brighten a child’s holiday by the gift of a book,” said Freeholder E. Marie Hayes, liaison to the Cape May County Library. “The library continues to impress the importance of reading through this program. Something along those lines would be great.” The Cape May County Library Children’s Department continues to host virtual events, including a Virtual Science Fair on Nov. 19. Virtual events are available for library patrons of all ages on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, @cmclibrary and through GoToMeeting. For a full event calendar, visit https://events.cmclibrary.org/events. The Cape May County Library operates branches in Sea Isle City, Cape May City, Lower Township, Wildwood Crest, Cape May Court House, Stone Harbor, Upper Township and Woodbine. The library has books, audio books, downloadable eBooks, video games, music, magazines, and movies. Computers, printer, fax machine and scanner use will continue to be available by appointment. The library is open for users to browse the physical collections for up to 30 minutes. Thursday and Friday bookmobile services are temporarily on hiatus.
