Sea Isle City turns many holidays -- even when the temperatures are less than summerlike -- into ones that reflect the gem of the resort, the expansive beaches.
And with the luck of a special holiday approaching, officials wanted to offer a way for beachgoers to save money and also be able to have a keepsake or memento. The city is selling limited edition 2020 St. Patrick's Day beach tags.
The holiday beach tags are on sale now at the pre-season rate of $20, a $5 savings over the regular cost of a seasonal beach tag.
The city offers an assortment of holiday-themed beach tags during the year that are always popular for people who collect beach tags and also for gift-giving, Sea Isle Public Information Officer Katherine Custer noted.

She said the St. Patrick’s Day-themed beach tags are a fun way to celebrate the holiday. A popular annual event to celebrate the holiday includes a parade in town on March 14.
“The 2020 St. Patrick’s Day beach tag will make a fine addition to anyone’s beach tag collection. Even folks who are not Irish want them,” Custer explained.
They make great gifts, too.
“If you’re looking for a fun and purposeful St. Patrick’s Day gift for someone special, this beach tag will do nicely,” Custer said. “Like all of Sea Isle’s other seasonal beach tags, the St. Patrick’s Day tag serves as a beach pass for the entire 2020 summer season.”
Custer has noted that some people have collected beach tags for decades.
Other popular beach tags for 2020 included one for Christmas and another for the Polar Bear Plunge. The Christmas tag was an image of a reindeer. Both the Christmas and Polar Bear Plunge beach tags sold out.
Holiday beach tags for 2020 showcased a reindeer and snowflakes for a festive look.
The Polar Bear Plunge weekend is the city’s biggest winter event. That tag featured the star attraction – the polar bear. This year the plunge was held on Feb. 15.
Beach tags are sold at the Tax Office on the second floor of City Hall and at the Sea Isle City Welcome Center on John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
They are also available at a cash-only beach tag vending machine on the first floor of City Hall. People are asked to use exact change.
Sea Isle has bragging rights for being the first town at the Jersey Shore to have a beach tag vending machine. It was introduced in 2016.
