The Cape May County Department of Health announced Monday two new coronavirus deaths and provided an update on the number of positive and recovered cases reported in the county.
In total, 15 Cape May County residents have died of complications from COVID-19. The most recent deaths were a 51-year-old woman from Upper Township and an 83-year-old man from Lower Township. Cape May County previously had not had any coronavirus deaths since April 13.
“It is with great sadness that we announce more lives lost to this pandemic,” Cape May County Freeholder Jeff Pierson said. “Our sympathies and thoughts go out to these families. The death of two of our community members is a reminder to us all to continue to heed the precautions associated with preventing the spread of this disease.”
Six new cases of coronavirus were reported Monday, bringing the total number in the county to 217, according to a press release.
