The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the Jersey Shore in effect from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
Sustained south winds from 30 to 40 mph are expected along with gusts from 60 to 70 mph. Thunderstorms are possible on Monday that could result in even stronger wind gusts.
Possible impacts include downed trees and power lines and widespread electric outages. Travel may be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
“People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive,” according to a weather alert issued by the Sea Isle City Police Department.
