City Council's Message

  • News
During the “Administration Reports” portion of the September 10 City Council meeting, Business Administrator George Savastano announced that 2019 beach tags sales had reached $1,378,580 at of the end of the summer season, which was $14,260 above 2018’s figure. Following Mr. Savastano’s update on beach tags, Chief Financial Officer Paula Doll explained that during a recent bond sale, Sea Isle City sold $21,800,000 in debt to J.P. Morgan, with a net interest of 1.56 percent over 10 years. Also on September 10, Ordinance 1642 was adopted following Second Reading and Public Hearing. This ordinance was written to prohibit the alteration of existing channels in the bay and will help Sea Isle City conform to FEMA’s best practices. During the “New Business” portion of the meeting, Councilwoman Mary Tighe asked for an update on Sea Isle City’s pending Beach Replenishment Project, at which time Mr. Savastano explained that the overall project, which will include parts of Sea Isle City, Strathmere and Ocean City, is currently out to bid and is expected to take place during the approaching off season. During the project, Sea Isle City is slated to receive new sand along the downtown beaches and also in the south-end. Also during “New Business” on September 10, Council President J.B. Feeley announced that an online survey is being created to allow Sea Isle City property owners to voice their opinions regarding whether or not the City should construct an indoor municipal swimming pool for recreation purposes. The survey is expected to be available for two weeks at the end of October and in early November. Additional information about the survey will be made available in future E-Newsletters and in the next Water-Sewer Bill mailing in October.
Property owners should be aware that they will need to have their property-specific water-sewer identification number in order to take the survey, and that only one survey per property will be tallied. Our next City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 24, at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there. Best Regards from the Members of City Council, Council President J.B. Feeley ([email protected]) Frank Edwardi ([email protected]) Jack Gibson ([email protected]) Bill Kehner ([email protected]) Mary Tighe ([email protected])
