Weather Statement: Coastal Flood Advisory

  • News
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jersey Shore. Coastal flooding of up to one foot is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways, according to an advisory from the Sea Isle City Police Department. In Cape May County, minor roadway flooding is possible in Wildwood, Cape May, Avalon and other locations along the shore and the Delaware Bay shoreline. A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood. Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters, according to the police advisory. The water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs, police say.
