Voters go to the polls from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to elect the Senate and Assembly candidates in the First Legislative District and two Cape May County freeholders.
Democratic Sen. Bob Andrzejczak is facing a challenge from Republican Senate candidate Michael Testa, a Vineland attorney. Democratic Assemblymen R. Bruce Land and Matthew W. Milam are running against Republican Assembly candidates Antwan McClellan, an Ocean City councilman, and Erik Simonsen, the mayor of Lower Township.
Cape May County Republican Freeholders Gerald M. Thornton and E. Marie Hayes are being challenged by Democrats Joyce P. Gould, a commissioner in Wildwood Crest, and Elizabeth F. Casey, an Ocean City attorney.
In Sea Isle City, residents will also vote on a nonbinding referendum asking them whether they support including an indoor swimming pool for a proposed community recreation center that would be built in place of the former public school at 4501 Park Road.
Also on the ballot are two seats for the Sea Isle Board of Education. Carolyn B. Shirk and Kristy Pittaluga are the only candidates.
