Sea Isle will upgrade its roads and drainage systems to help reduce flooding across town.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Cape May County from 7 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday.
Water levels are expected to peak at high tide, which occurs along the oceanfront between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sunday. High tide on the back bays occurs later than on the oceanfront.
Minor roadway flooding is possible on the barrier islands and along the back bays. Up to a foot of flooding is possible in low-lying areas near the shoreline and tidal waterways, according to the forecast.
A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is expected, which may result in some road closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.
Residents are urged not to leave their vehicles in flood-prone areas. Motorists should not attempt to drive through flooding because storm water may be deeper than it appears.
