Who will win this year’s head of cabbage? All are invited to attend the Green Auction, which features friendly-bidding on beautifully wrapped mystery items. (Photo provided by Sea Isle City)
On Thursday, March 7, the Sea Isle City Garden Club will host their annual “Green Auction” inside the Community Lodge, 300 JFK Boulevard, at 7 p.m.
During the Green Auction, members and guests can bid on a variety of wrapped “green” items that include Irish-themed home goods, fashion apparel, gag-gifts and the event’s popular ‘Head of Cabbage.’
Bidding is limited to low dollar amounts because the focus is camaraderie and fellowship. The content of all wrapped packages remains a mystery until purchased and opened by the winning bidders.
“Some of the auction items are hysterical,” said Garden Club member Mary Tighe. “The gifts are beautifully wrapped – even if it’s a low cost item – and everyone wonders who is going to get the head of cabbage? The Green Auction is a highlight of the spring season for Garden Club members.”
As with all Garden Club events and meetings, the Green Auction is open to anyone who wishes to attend. For more information, call 609-263-1157.
