On June 29, the City’s Administration hosted a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the future of the public school property at 4501 Park Road.
I am happy to report that the meeting was attended by more than 200 residents and property owners, who were eager to explore our options and share their thoughts. In addition to people stepping up to the microphone to express their feelings, we also created a questionnaire that will further assist your elected officials as we pin down exactly what everyone wants to happen at the Park Road facility.
If you were not able to attend the Town Hall Meeting on June 29, you are welcome to complete and submit that same questionnaire to the City.
All you have to do is go to our municipal website, www.seaislecitynj.us, look for the “News” tab on the home page, print the questionnaire, and then mail it to City Hall. There’s a special section in this newsletter that has a direct link to the questionnaire, which we hope people will also utilize.
Please be aware that all completed questionnaires must be delivered to the City by July 19.
On Monday, City Council hosted their Reorganization Meeting at the Excursion Park Band Shell, where J. B. Feeley was elected City Council President for the next year, and where I was honored to once again take the oath of office for my next term alongside Councilman Frank Edwardi and Councilman Bill Kehner, who were also re-elected in May. My congratulations and thanks go to Councilmen Kehner and Edwardi – and to all the members of City Council – for their ongoing devotion to our community.
It seems like Memorial Day was just a few days ago, but here we are on the threshold of celebrating Independence Day.
Time certainly flies by.
As is the case each July Fourth. We have a great lineup of Independence Day events waiting for you in Sea Isle City, starting with our Junior Olympics competition at Dealy Field on Thursday morning, a patriotic concert at the Band Shell on Thursday evening, and a fantastic Independence Day Fireworks Display at 9 p.m.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the municipal employees who help make Sea Isle City’s Independence Day a success, including our Division of Recreation, Division of Tourism, Public Works Department, Beach Patrol, and our Police Department and other first responders.
I am also grateful to the good folks at the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for hosting the Junior Olympics each year.
Thank you all!
Once the excitement of July Fourth has passed, we will quickly turn our focus to next week, when Sea Isle City’s Beach Patrol and its many alumni will celebrate the SICBP’s 100th Anniversary.
There are several events planned that will make this an extremely memorable occasion, including public ceremonies, a “Surf Boat” parade along the promenade, a comprehensive historical presentation, and other activities.
I hope everyone will take the time to attend one or more of these events as we celebrate 100 years of lifeguarding in Sea Isle City!
With the Sea Isle City Beach Patrol’s 100th Anniversary in mind, this week’s “Shout Out” goes to all of our lifeguards – past and present. Thank you all for protecting our shoreline and doing so with honor.
Happy Independence Day!
Smile…You’re in Sea Isle!
Mayor Leonard C. Desiderio
