Sea Isle Warns of Coastal Flooding, Strong Winds

Saturday's storm is expected to bring moderate coastal flooding to Sea Isle City.

  • News
The current coastal storm will continue to affect Sea Isle City, especially during the approaching three high tides, according to the latest weather advisory. The next high tide is expected at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday, followed by Monday morning’s high tide at approximately 9:30 a.m., and Monday night’s high tide at approximately 10:30 p.m. Northeast winds and the recent new moon are likely to drive tides higher than normal. People are urged to move vehicles from lower-lying areas to higher ground.
Be aware that the Townsends Inlet Bridge connecting Sea Isle and Avalon will likely be closed at various times due to waves breaking over the roadway on the Avalon side of the bridge. As always, motorists are cautioned not to drive through flooded streets. Salt water can severely damage or destroy vehicles. In addition, the wake created by vehicles driving through stormwater can damage private property and homes. “Turn around, don't drown,” is a motto to follow in flooded areas, city officials say. Property owners are advised to secure outside furniture and other items that can be blown by the wind. In the event of an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
