City Council's Message

  • News
At the start of the Aug. 28 City Council meeting, Mayor Leonard Desiderio read a resolution that was written in honor of Sea Isle City’s former police chief, Thomas D’Intino. In the resolution, Council said, “Whereas Chief D’Intino has been an integral part of Sea Isle City government, providing tremendous guidance and support to City staff not only as Chief of Police and Emergency Management Coordinator, but as a member of the City’s senior staff responsible for ensuring the City government’s mission is accomplished day in and day out; and, whereas over a 28-year career in public service, Chief D’Intino has set the professional bar for his duties as Police Chief at the highest level, and by doing so set an outstanding example for others; and, now, therefore, be it resolved that the City Council gives their most heartfelt thanks to Chief D’Intino for his service, offers congratulations on his retirement, and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors." Also on Aug. 28, Ordinance 1625 was introduced and had first reading. This ordinance was introduced to clarify the previous ordinance that addressed alcohol in public places – and it made clear that it was not intended to affect outdoor bars at licensed establishments and would not affect outdoor dining that takes place in Sea Isle City. The ordinance also clarified the requirements for parking as it relates to the hotel and motel districts. Ordinance 1625 will receive second reading and public hearing on Sept. 11. In addition to several routine resolutions on the Aug. 28 Consent Agenda, the following resolutions were also adopted: Resolution 151, which authorized the award of a contract for $32,073 to Garden State General Construction, Inc. to address drainage issues on Venicean Road. Resolution 152, which authorized the City’s participation in the National Joint Powers Alliance for the acquisition of two Hustler Super S Kawasakis for the Department of Public Works (for lawn maintenance). Resolution 153, which authorized the City’s participation in the National Joint Powers Alliance for the acquisition of a 2019 Ford Escape. Our next City Council meeting will take place in Council Chambers at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. We hope to see you there.
