City Council’s Message

  • News
During the “Mayor & Administration Reports” portion of the October 23 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio announced that Sea Isle City’s Recreation Office will host a Trunk-or-Treat event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Halloween night, October 31, in the Municipal Marina Parking Lot along 42nd Place.  Any residents, business owners or organizations that would like to distribute candy to local kids during Trunk-or-Treat are welcome to participate. The Mayor also announced that, in addition to the Trunk-or-Treat event, traditional door-to-door Trick-or-Treating will take place in Sea Isle City on October 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. He also announced that a “Halloween Trick-or-Treat Route” is being compiled to help families know which private properties will be distributing candy that night. For more information about Sea Isle City’s Halloween night activities, contact the Recreation Office at 609-263-0050. Following the Mayor’s comments, a rendering of Sea Isle City’s future Fishing Pier & Kayak Launch was displayed. Also, on October 23, Ordinances 1626, 1627 and 1628 were introduced with first reading. Each of these ordinances pertains to Sea Isle’s existing Zoning Ordinance and will help the City comply with the State of New Jersey’s Affordable Housing Requirements.  After City Council approved the introduction of these three ordinances, Councilwoman Tighe asked that maps of the proposed zoning changes be available at the next City Council meeting. Additionally, Council President Gibson noted that the ordinances will be forwarded to the Sea Isle City Planning Board for Master Plan consistency review. Each of the aforementioned ordinances will have second reading and public hearing during the November 27 City Council meeting. Each of the four resolutions listed on the October 23 Consent Agenda was approved, including three that authorized the City to participate in cooperative purchasing agreements, thus saving taxpayer money because of the benefits of mass purchasing.
Two of those resolutions are as follows: ·         Resolution 185, which authorized the City to participate in the Sourcewell / National Joint Powers Alliance for the purchase of 150 new dome-top litter containers to replace the majority of Sea Isle’s old public trash cans.  ·         Resolution 186, which authorized participation in the State of New Jersey’s Co-Op Purchasing Program for the acquisition of Mobile Data Terminals for our Police Department as well as additional Police Body Cameras.   Our next City Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 13, at 10 a.m. followed by a Capital Plan Workshop at 1 p.m. in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there. Best Regards from the Members of City Council, Council President Jack Gibson ([email protected]) Frank Edwardi ([email protected]) J.B. Feeley ([email protected]) Bill Kehner ([email protected]) Mary Tighe ([email protected])
