Sea Isle City has installed a permanent medicine drop box at Police Headquarters, making it easier for local residents to safely dispose of unwanted prescription drugs.The public is invited to the official unveiling of the new “Project Medicine Drop Box” at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29. The unveiling will begin with a press conference on the third floor of City Hall, 233 JFK Boulevard, with Sea Isle Mayor Leonard Desiderio, Police Chief Thomas McQuillen, New Jersey Consumer Affairs Acting Director Paul R. Rodríguez and other community leaders who are committed to battling the current opiate crisis.
Immediately following the press conference, the new drop box will be unveiled and officially put into use in City Hall, adjacent to Police Headquarters.The drop box is part of the New Jersey Attorney General’s “Project Medicine Drop” initiative. It will allow Sea Isle residents to take an active role in the fight against the nationwide epidemic of opiate and heroin abuse, which often is fueled by the abuse of prescription painkillers.For additional information about the unveiling of Sea Isle’s new medicine drop box, call 609-263-4311.
