City Council’s Message

  • News
During the “Mayor and Administration Reports” portion of the September 25 City Council meeting, Business Administrator George Savastano informed Council that this year’s overall beach tag sales reached $1,364,320 – a figure that is $645 less than in 2017, which Council President Gibson called a “dead heat” considering this year’s challenging weather.  Following Mr. Savastano’s report, Mayor Desiderio informed City Council that the Sea Isle Boulevard Elevation Project, which was initially scheduled to be completed in 2019, is now expected to be finished by the end of December 2018 (if work continues as hoped). Please note, however, that even though we will be able to enjoy the causeway’s full width and new guard rails when it re-opens, final paving and striping work will take place next spring. Nonetheless, the members of City Council were very pleased to receive this information – and, like everyone else, we will be happy to drive on the full width elevated causeway when completed. In addition to numerous routine resolutions on the September 25 Consent Agenda, the following resolutions were also adopted: ·            Resolution 163, which re-appointed Thomas D’Intino as Sea Isle City’s Emergency Management Coordinator. ·            Resolution 166, which authorized support for Cape May County’s plan to restripe portions of Commonwealth Avenue in Strathmere and Landis Avenue in Sea Isle’s north-end in order to enhance pedestrian safety. ·
Resolution 167, which authorized the award of a contract to William McLees Architects for $18,650 for renovations to Sea Isle’s Ambulance Corps Building. Our next City Council meeting takes place on Tuesday, October 9, at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there.
