The week of June 4th is expected to be a busy week of various County construction projects throughout Cape May County. Motorists will be experiencing numerous orange construction signs and, unfortunately some delays on various County roads and bridges during the course of the week. Assuming the weather cooperates, the anticipated work is as follows:
Corsons Tavern Road (CR628) in Dennis Township: Starting on Monday June 4th, Arawak Paving Company, Inc., Hammonton, NJ, will begin paving operation on Corsons Tavern Road from just north of Gracetown Road to Kings Highway in the South Seaville section of Dennis Township. The roadway will be closed to through traffic during working hours, however local residents will be able to access their properties.
Woodbine-Ocean View Road (CR550) in Dennis Township: RTW Construction, Inc., Southampton, NJ, will be continuing on Monday June 4th with the construction of drainage improvements on Woodbine-Ocean View Road in the vicinity of the Corsons Tavern Road intersection.
Bayshore Road (CR603) in the Villas: Starting around 4:00pm on Monday June 4th, South State, Inc., Bridgeton, NJ, will begin installing the surface course on Bayshore Road from Wilde Avenue to Weber Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township. The initial work will consist of removing the asphalt pavement for a short length of the streets that intersection Bayshore Road and will require the northbound lane to be closed. Northbound traffic on Bayshore Road will be detoured at Greenwood Avenue, to Woolson Road, cross Fulling Mill Road to Franklin Avenue, to Weber Avenue and then back to Bayshore Road. Around 7:00pm, both lanes on Bayshore Road will close and the placement of the surface course will be begin. Southbound traffic will be detoured to Weber Avenue, to Main Street, to Yuma Avenue, to Wilde Avenue and then back to Bayshore Road. The paving operation is expected to be completed by 7am Tuesday morning.
West Avenue (CR619) in Ocean City: On Tuesday June 5th, Landberg Construction, LLC will begin installing drainage improvements at the intersection of 41st Street and West Avenue in ocean City to address stormwater ponding. The work will consist of installing twin 18” diameter ductile iron pipes under West Avenue to connect the east catch basins to the west catch basins. The upgrades will increase the capacity of the existing drainage system and will augment the recently completed City drainage improvements along 41st Street. Due to the nature of the work and the high water table, it is necessary to dewater the crossing prior to, and during the pipe installation. This permits a safer construction operation and increase the overall speed in completing the work. The dewatering activity will result in the installation of well points and piping across West Avenue. This dewatering piping requires traffic be detoured from West Avenue around the construction zone. Traffic heading north on West Avenue will be detoured at 42nd Street to Asbury Avenue to 40th Street back to West Avenue. Traffic heading south on West Avenue will be detoured at 40th Street to Asbury Avenue to 42
