The Sea Isle City Police Department will host a National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6-8 p.m., at the Excursion Park Band Shell, located at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade.
As is the case in towns and cities throughout the country, the focus of National Night Out is to increase awareness for important police programs, such as drug prevention, avoiding juvenile alcohol use and other anti-crime efforts.
Sea Isle’s National Night Out will feature complimentary snacks and giveaways, as well as a variety of free activities, including face painters, inflatable bounce houses, a family photo booth, games, live music and other family-friendly activities. There will also be a dunk tank, which will raise funds for Mayor Leonard Desiderio’s 2018 Holiday Toy and Food Drive.
Families will also enjoy a variety of interactive law enforcement and safety displays, manned by representatives from Sea Isle’s Fire Department, Division of Emergency Medical Services and Beach Patrol, as well as the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, Prosecutor’s Office and S.W.A.T. Team. At the Sea Isle Police Department table, officers will allow people to try on special goggles that show how severely alcohol impairs basic functions.
Children marveled over a fire engine that was parked next to Excursion Park during National Night Out in 2017.
After the National Night Out activities end, everyone can settle in for a free showing of the movie “Cars 3,” which will begin at dusk at Excursion Park. Families are reminded to bring folding chairs or beach blankets to recline on the park’s lawn during the movie.
