City Council’s Message:

  • News
During the June 26 City Council meeting, Ordinance 1622 was adopted.  This ordinance was written in harmony with Mayor Desiderio’s recent Executive Order that increased the number of seasonal parking passes that are available each year from 300 to 400. Also on June 26, Ordinance 1623 was introduced on first reading.  Ordinance 1623 (a Bond Ordinance that is consistent with the funding levels of the City’s adopted Capital Plan) provides for various capital improvements, including the purchase of high-priority equipment as well as the installation of decorative street lighting along the Promenade and in various commercial districts. This ordinance also provides for the purchase of a new public information sound system along the Promenade. Ordinance 1623 will have Second Reading during the July 24 City Council meeting. In addition to five (5) routine resolutions, the June 26 Consent Agenda also included Resolution 144, which amended the City’s adopted budget, allowing for the addition of a $3,000 Green Communities Grant that Sea Isle City recently received. During the “New Business” portion of the June 26 City Council meeting, Council nominated Jack Gibson to be the City Council President for the next year (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019). During the “Citizen Comments” portion of the June 26 meeting, a resident suggested that Jitney Service be extended in Sea Isle City to include additional daytime hours. Council has relayed this worthwhile suggestion to the City Administration. Also during “Citizen Comments,” Frank Costello, the organizer of the “Semper-Five Run/Walk,” expressed his gratitude for the support his event receives from the City of Sea Isle City. The Semper-Five Run/Walk takes place in Seaside Heights, NJ, on September 15, in support of the Marine Raider Foundation.  For more information, go to http://www.seasidesemperfive.org/. Additionally, it was announced during the June 26 City Council meeting that the originally intended parking restrictions in the vicinity of the new speed humps along Venicean Road will not be occurring. Subsequently, the newly painted yellow markings along the curbs adjacent to the speed humps were removed and Venicean Road’s previous parking configuration was restored. Our next City Council meeting takes place on Tuesday, July 10, at 10:00 a.m. in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there!
