A man’s body discovered on July 4 behind a house in Sea Isle City is not believed to be linked to foul play, according to a press release from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office. The man, identified by the Medical Examiner as Charles C. Staropoli, 52, of Avondale, PA was found in an area between two fences at the back of a residence on the 5100 block of Landis Avenue. Sea Isle City Police officers found Staropoli’s body at approximately 4:40 p.m. upon responding to a call and the report of a deceased male. An investigation was immediately opened by Prosecutor’s Office detectives and the Sea Isle City Police Department. The Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting in the probe. Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Sea Isle Police Chief Thomas McQuillen advised the public of their joint investigation and stressed there is no reason for alarm of any danger in the surrounding area of the incident, and that as additional details evolve, further information will be released. Following positive identification of the body, the Medical Examiner’s office stressed there were no signs of foul play. The cause and manner of death have been listed as “pending (results of) toxicology reports,” according to the Medical Examiner. Sutherland stated an investigation is ongoing and urges anyone who has information concerning this case to contact his office at 609-465-1135, or the Sea Isle City Police Department at 609-263-4311.
