City Council's Message

  • News
During the “Mayor and Administration Reports” portion of the December 11 City Council meeting, Business Administrator George Savastano updated Council on the Sea Isle Boulevard Elevation Project. Due to some recent wet weather and contractual holiday schedules for workers, it is anticipated that Sea Isle Boulevard will be opened to traffic in its final configuration absent of the construction barrier on or about January 7, 2019. Mr. Savastano also spoke about Sea Isle’s ongoing efforts regarding Flood Mitigation, stating that the City is constantly working on Flood Mitigation, that long term and short term planning is underway, and that “Flood Mitigation is one of the City’s highest priorities.” Additionally, the Business Administrator stated that Sea Isle City will be attending a “brain-storming” meeting with neighboring communities and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Also, Sea Isle City has Flood Mitigation Projects included in our current Capital Plan (such as the 38th Street Pump Station). Moreover, Mr. Savastano said that “our beaches are in good shape,” and that the State is conducting a Back Bay Flood Risk Management Study regarding interconnecting bodies of water to develop coastal management plans and solutions that perhaps will result in the opportunity for communities to apply for financial assistance. Each of the eleven resolutions on the December 11 Consent Agenda was approved, including: ·   Resolution 224, establishing which of Sea Isle City’s beaches will have lifeguards in attendance during the 2019 summer season. ·   Resolution 225, establishing City Council’s 2019 meeting schedule. ·   Resolution 227, authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract between the City and Police Chief Thomas McQuillen.
·   Resolution 232, authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract between the City and the International Association of EMT’s and Paramedics (IAEP). ·   Resolution 234, authorizing the City to enter into a Shared Services Agreement with Ocean City for Project Management Services for the renovation of our Ambulance Corps Building, thus saving taxpayers money. Our next City Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 26, at 10:00 a.m. in Council Chambers. We hope to see you there.  Best Regards from the Members of City Council, Council President Jack Gibson ([email protected]) Frank Edwardi ([email protected]) J.B. Feeley ([email protected]) Bill Kehner ([email protected]) Mary Tighe ([email protected])
