Mayor’s Message: Dec. 6

  • News
Anyone with strong ties to Sea Isle City more than likely knows about the devastating fire that took place on 54th Street on November 29, which took the life of Marie Zielinski. In addition to being the matriarch of the Corso family (a very well-known local clan), Marie was also a beloved member of this community and was a supporter of several local civic organizations, including AARP, the Catholic Daughters and the Sea Isle City Garden Club -- groups that will greatly miss her gracious presence. It goes without saying that Marie’s daughter Nina, sons Joe and Christopher, grandchildren, extended family and her many friends, have our deepest sympathy.  When I visited with Marie’s family shortly after the fire, they expressed their gratitude for the tremendous amount of support they have been receiving from our community during this very sad and difficult time.  As mayor of Sea Isle City, I am extremely proud of our residents for coming together to shower love and kindness on the Corso family and all those involved, and I feel more blessed than ever to call Sea Isle my home. There truly is no other place I would rather live than here.
Please continue to keep the Corsos in your thoughts and prayers – as well as the two residents who were injured and their adjacent neighbors who were also severely impacted by the fire on November 29.    Even though our town is saddened by the events of last week, I pray that the holiday season will comfort us all and continue to bring us together.  Wishing everyone a Happy Hanukah and a peaceful month ahead.   Smile … You’re in Sea Isle!  Mayor Leonard C. Desiderio
