Suspected Forgery at TD Bank - Investigation Being Conducted by the US Secret Service, CMC County Prosecutors Office and OCPD

TD Bank on 9th Street in Ocean City DATE: January 26, 2017 CASE: PD-17-02338 INCIDENT: Forgery TD Bank 100 Block 9th Street DATE OF INCIDENT:
January 25, 2017 TIME: 2:53PM DETAILS: The Ocean City Police Department responded to a reported fraudulent and suspicious activity at the TD Bank located in the 100 block of 9th Street. The police received information from bank employees that a person just attempted to cash a fraudulent check and had exited the bank and entered a black Dodge SUV in the parking lot. Additional information was received that the suspect had exited the vehicle and was now near the front of the bank near the main entrance. Ptl. Vanessa Strunk was able to locate the suspect walking along side of the bank near 9th Street. The suspect was found to be in possession of a large amount of money and suspected marijuana. This suspect was later identified as, Timothy A. Gonzalez, from the Bronx, New York. The suspect vehicle had left the bank parking lot. A short time later Ptl. Wilent and Sgt. Rowland located the suspect vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 700 block of Bay Avenue. Three subjects were occupying the vehicle identified as; Jonathan Maldonado(Driver), Vashan Chiddick(front passenger) and Diamond Commuck(rear passenger). All were detained and transported to police headquarters for follow up investigation. Follow up investigation was conducted by the Ocean City Police Detective Bureau resulted in a search of the suspect vehicle. Found in the vehicle was an undisclosed amount of cash, fraudulent documents and a printing device. Additional investigation is being conducted by the United States Secret Service, Cape May County Prosecutors Office and the Ocean City Police Department. The above suspects are under investigation for similar incidents in Absecon, Somers Point and Northfield, New Jersey. Any bank or business that may have been a victim of a similar incident should contact their local police department to report the event.
