A Bronze Plaque Honoring Sea Isle City’s Original Polar Bear Queen Will Be Unveiled on Thursday, February 16, at 10:30 a.m.

Excursion Park Photo.4Dr. Irene Jameson will be posthumously honored in Sea Isle City on February 16 during a ceremony led by Mayor Leonard Desiderio, who will unveil a new bronze plaque that highlights Dr. Jameson’s many contributions to the community. Elected officials and representatives from virtually every civic organization in Sea Isle City will be part of a large crowd of spectators as the Mayor unveils the new plaque. Dr. Jameson was Sea Isle’s long-time Director of Public Relations and in 1995 she was the suggested the concept of a Polar Bear Plunge in Sea Isle City.  Today, Sea Isle’s annual Polar Bear Plunge attracts thousands of participants and tens-of thousands of spectators – all thanks to Irene.
