Sea Isle City Beach Patrol Wins The 48th Annual Frank “Dutch” Hoffman Memorial Lifeguard Championships

Video by Ryan Givens The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol scored in 4 out of the 5 events at the 48th Annual Frank “Dutch” Hoffman Memorial Lifeguard Championships to win the team title. The race was originally scheduled for last Friday, but took place Monday evening at 6:30pm on Lincoln Avenue, and featured all beach patrols apart of the South Jersey Lifeguard Chiefs Association. Photo Credit: Dale Braun The Dutch Hoffman race consisted of a doubles row, rescue board paddle, swim, two mile run, and singles row. Sea Isle’s Justin Naylor and Pat Scannapieco posted a third place finish in the doubles row.  Margate and Longport placed first and second, respectively.  Right after the row, Sea Isle paddler Jeff Buyse continued his undefeated streak in the rescue board with an impressive win. Photo Credit: Dale Braun In the swim, Ocean City rookie Maggie Wallace had a dominant performance, beating out Sea Isle’s Conall Loughlin (2nd), and Longport’s John Tepper (3rd). In the two mile run, rookie Shawn Hutchinson finished 4th.  Wildwood’s Mike Syrnick won for the 5th time in his career, while Upper Township’s Jake Davis finished in a close second. Photo Credit: Dale Braun While Sea Isle did not post a point scoring finish in the singles row, they held onto their team lead, outscoring 6-time defending champions Margate, 14 to 9. This is the third team win of the season for Sea Isle, as they won The Beschen-Callahan and Tri-Resorts Lifeguard competitions. SICBP 4th Place Runner Shaun Hutchinson.
