After a few comfortable days, get ready for a return to heat & humidity. A large high pressure system will settle in and usher in the hottest weather of the summer. An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for Saturday, Sunday and possibly Monday. The peak of the heat will arrive on Saturday as westerly winds will allow temperatures to soar into the 90s. The combination of heat and humidity will make heat index values break the 100 degree mark. Children, the elderly and people with respiratory issues are most at risk to heat related issues. To avoid dehydration, heat exhaustion or heat stroke, be sure to drink plenty of fluids and avoid prolonged periods in the sun.
The threat of a few t'storms late in the day on Saturday could provide some relief. On Sunday temperatures could still reach 90, however, a southerly wind and a slight drop in humidity will make it less oppressive.
