Cape Assist’s Annual Peer Leadership Conference Was Huge Success

keynote-jeffrey-bucholtz-4 12/5/15 (Wildwood, NJ) --- Cape Assist’s Annual Peer Leadership Conference was a huge success, empowering students to set examples for their peers through leadership, citizenship and personal development.  Over 360 local Middle School and High School students attended the event on November 18th at the Wildwood Convention Center. Jeffrey Bucholtz, the keynote speaker, performed a dynamic presentation entitled, “Together We Can: Stepping Up to End Violence.” Other workshops held included the following. Breaking the Ice (Cape May County Technical High School Peer Leaders) Can You Hear Me Now? (Lower Cape May Regional High School Peer Leaders) cooperative-gamesteam-building-4 Cooperative games/Team Building Middle School: The Power of Community: Pay It Forward (John Lynch, Lunch with Lynch Foundation) Mindfulness Matters (Carol Pittaluga, Health and Wellness Practitioner) Cooperative Games (Wildwood High School Peer Leaders) Did You Hear About?.. (Lower Cape May Regional High School Peer Leaders) The 5 B’s – How to Resist Peer Pressure (Joe Faldetta, Cape Assist) Don’t Be 4 Sale! – Tobacco/Marijuana Education (Temerity Berry, Cape Assist) The winners of the Peer Leadership Challenge, “The Power of a Bystander” were: 1st place – Middle Township Middle School; 2nd place – Lower Cape May Regional High School; 3
rd place- West Cape May Elementary School. johnlynch-power-of-comunity-4 John Lynch “The Power of Community: Pay It Forward” The winning social media hashtag name is #CMC Youth Strong. “The purpose of the new hashtag is to promote a positive image of Cape May County youth,” said Natalia Wilber, Cape Assist Healthy Community Coalition Coordinator/Community Educator, “We’d like to encourage all local organizations and individuals to use the new hashtag whenever they post something fun or positive pertaining to youth activities."
